a predominance of courage over timidity
I have things to write, I really do. I’ve been reading, a lot, really good things, and thing about which I have Deep Thoughts. However, other things have also intruded, not the least of which is the upcoming cape trip and influx of many from out of town which will be the highlight of the year. More on that fun to follow.
For now, a moment for Ted Kennedy, who, over the course of his life said many wise, inspiring, funny, and fiery things that have been repeated at length over the course of the last few days. Boston has been one big Irish wake this weekend, and it’s been pretty incredible to see the effect he had on this state that loved him so. And how many of his words reverberate still and will for years to come.
The answer is to rely on youth. Not a time of life but a state of mind, a temper of the will, a quality of imagination, a predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease.
One way to live. Thank you, Mr. Kennedy.

Hi:
The “courage over timidity” quotation is not from Ted Kennedy. This is something Robert Kennedy said.
I was surfing and I wanted to point this out. Ted Kennedy quoted Robert Kennedy when Ted did Robert’s eulogy.

You’re right, partially. Both Kennedy brothers were quoting Gen. MacArthur’s 1962 speech at West Point (accepting the Sylvanus Thayer Award at 82, the “duty, honor, country” speech was delivered without any notes = brilliantly).
I’ll amend and clarify :)
